Position Overview
As the Project Engineer you will have the responsibility and accountability for plant assets, as well as personnel and related business goals. Under the guidance of the Lead Project Manager , the role delivers hands-on Engineering, Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S), Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC), and Operations Leadership to an empowered, work process driven organization.
The facility is currently under construction and this position will initially be as a member of the project team with the responsibility to represent the plant’s best interest to ensure it is designed for long term operability, safety, quality and reliability, and that operational concerns are properly factored into the project design.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Be the liaison between the project team and the plant. Represent the plant’s interest at all times to the project team, consultants and equipment vendors, and ensure the operability of the project design. Assist process engineer with equipment specification, participate in equipment design and facility layout reviews and approvals, and resolve safety and maintenance issues. Determine spare parts philosophy.
- Aid the development of pre-startup and startup plans and schedule. Assist in the coordination of the construction timeline with the project team. Develop, update, and implement job procedures and operating discipline.
- Be the focal point for ensuring that plant operators are trained, and that plant operating discipline is prepared prior to startup. Conduct pre-startup review and complete pre-startup activities.
- Support product development process by providing scale-up support and manufacturability evaluations to the technical team.
- Ensure the linkages between plant operations and other functions are effective. (i.e. Operations Management (production scheduling), Maintenance, EH&S, Site Logistics & Supply Chain, Process Control, Automation, etc.). Assume aspects of leadership, integration responsibilities, and other roles as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain plant engineering and equipment specifications, process and instrument diagrams, process flow diagrams, mass and energy balances, reports, and other key documented process knowledge.
- Ensure assigned contractors meet contractual objectives by effectively managing the project schedule, cost, and scope.
Company
- Bachelor of Engineering required (Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical preferred).
- Excellent people skills and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
- Minimum 5 years of manufacturing plant experience.
- Experience working at a GMP certified facility preferred.
- Experience with bulk materials/solids handling process and equipment preferred.
- Good understanding of manufacturing plant control systems and process automation preferred.
- Experience in troubleshooting, repairing machines and mechanical assemblies is an asset.
- Working knowledge and previous experience in Project Management.
- Software skills including MS Office professional package, AutoCAD and Scheduling software such as MS Project.
Compensation
$90,000.00 - $115,000.00
