Position Overview


As the Lead Project Manager, you will have the responsibility and accountability for plant assets, personnel and related business goals. The role delivers business and administrative leadership to an empowered, work process driven plant organization.

The facility is currently under construction. You would directly oversee the project through the construction phase and participate in start-up.

This position will initially be a Lead Project Manager with responsibility to lead the planning, coordination, requirements gathering, business analysis, project planning, project monitoring, and project status reporting and system implementation. You will also lead the development of the plant startup strategy, preparation, hiring, and training in tandem with the HR department. Working with the project team to ensure the project is designed for long term operability, safety, quality, and reliability, and that operational concerns are properly factored into the project plan.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Act as the liaison between the plant and Executive. Represent the company’s interests at all times and ensure the operability of the project design. Plan, coordinate, and document reviews for Safety & Loss Prevention, pre-startup audit, environmental audit, industrial hygiene audit, etc.
  • Lead the development of pre-startup and startup plans and schedule. Coordinate construction timeline with the project manager. Manage the development of operating discipline, training, and job procedures.
  • Be the lead for ensuring that plant operators are trained, and that plant operating discipline is prepared prior to startup. Conduct pre-startup review and complete pre-startup activities.
  • Provide leadership and support through daily actions, coaching and guidance to the plant teams and individuals. Work within the plant to implement business strategy and achieve plant goals – for example: Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QAQC), Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S), operational costs, asset utilization, operational reliability, etc.
  • Ensure an effective EH&S program is in place to achieve EH&S goals and comply with regulatory and permit requirements. Demonstrates priority and commitment through personal behavior.
  • Provide administrative leadership and coaching to the plant personnel. (i.e. role clarity and expectations, compensation, employee development, deployment, recognition systems, etc.). Ensures implementation and ongoing effectiveness of operating discipline, management systems, enabling technologies and roles. Manages and implements systems to reduce variation and produce quality products. 
  • Ensure the linkages between facility operations and other functions are effective. (i.e. maintenance, EH&S, site logistics, process control and supply chain management oversight etc.).
  • Prioritize and direct project activities during the project lifecycle to include planning, scheduling, change management, design, procurement, manufacturing, integration, and testing.
  • Provide oversight to ensure that assigned contractors meet contractual objectives by effectively managing the project schedule, cost, and scope.
  • Proactively following change control procedures as needed when objectives change which may include providing contingency plans and problem resolution reports.


Company


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical preferred).
  • Excellent people skills and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in manufacturing - preferably in food or pharmaceuticals.
  • Proven management and leadership experience.
  • Hands on experience working in an internationally certified quality management system.
  • Experience working in GMP certified facility preferred.
  • Familiarity with audits and reporting. 


Compensation

$110,000.00 - $130,000.00
